Decoupage research

Image
Decoupage is the art of cutting out different shapes and stacking them up to give it depth and the illusion of coming our and the viewer. Choosing the technique to use the word decoupage comes from Middle French "decouper", meaning to cut out or cut from something it originated in French but has been used all over the world for example in east Siberia where they decorated the tombs with bits of cut up felt. They also did it in Florence Italy where they would create biblical scenes and ship them all over the world and sell them in markets. It is now commonly found in card making and decorating home furniture. There are to types of decoupage for example the pyramid where it is raised away from the base layer and reverse pyramid where it goes into the image.

Planning and production

Choosing the technique to use Two coloured lenses image Lenticuler (two images displayed on two sides of folded card) Raising and lowering using foam backing Scratching into an image Stitching into a picture Creating a shape from the images and make it into a model Taking images Taking images of landscapes and close ups of flowers I did this to get some interesting patterns and colours into my final piece I walked round a country park and took images of lots of interesting views and colours. Creating the 3D image I printed out 5 of the same images the stuck the first of a piece of card to make it stronger I also cut out different sections of the image to layer on top of the images. I then used small pieces of foam backing to raise it above the other part of the image and I then repeated it with the others till it built up a multi layered 3D image.

raising and lowering

We did an experiment with Obama using an image we found of his portrait and of a skull and brain we got them from google and we then stuck it to a foam backing board and used a scalpel to cut out parts of his face to then go though the layers of the head. so we cut out one piece of his face and then put some of the skull. we then cut a hole in that so that even less of his brain was visible and it created a layered image. the effect worked well as most of the foam board wasnt visable so it didnt ruin the effect of the 3D as bad i think it could be improved by useing my own images and also maybe so more stuff that is created rather then downloaded of the internet for example m freind from art handdraw a skull that i could use under the face so that it adds more detail to the 3D images. other ways you could make it better is by useing better paper for example luster so that the printing is of much better quality. Alternativly I could add more layers to make the effect better and add mo...

Moving gif reasearch

a moving GIF is created with multiple cameras with the same settings so the images are roughly the same this helps the GIF look much smoother as there won't be a big jump in contrast or exposure. you set the cameras around a subject with a few people using the cameras. One of the camera person counts done and the subject does a action or pose then the people using the cameras take the image at the same time this will create the images of the same subject but of different angels. meaning that when they are put into photoshop or premier pro will create an image where the camera is spinning around the subject or panning in a direction. this will create a digital 3D effect. this is also known as 360 perspective.

Lenticular Resarch

Image
Lenticular is a form of 3D imagery that uses triangular prisms to blend two images together by putting one on either side of one of the sides. this means that depending on what angle the viewer is looking they will see a different image. this can be done in many was with plastic or card folded to create a zig zag which you can stick an image to either side. this isn't just done in the photography field artist can do this with spray paint or hand drawn images.
